There are a number of public artworks in Uphall and Broxburn, all of which commemorate our shale mining industrial past.
Five of the artwork sites were part of a Grassroots Public Art project and the sixth public art site was initiated and developed by local residents of both towns and funded by West Lothian Council.
The 'Out in the Open - Public Art in Uphall and Broxburn' leaflet by West Lothian Council includes details of the public art route and information about the following artworks:
- Homage to the Shale Workers
- Shale Hearts Trail
- Above and Below
- Shale People: Then and Now
- Made by Shale People - Dibond Banner Series
- Clocking Off - Gala Day and Quoits Mural
